After a lot of brainstorming, I concluded that The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho would be the first book that I would like to review. Honestly, I am a bit biased when it comes to this book, as I read it when I was not in the best of my spirits. I was suffering from a fever and was not able to recover. I picked this book up to distract myself from anxiety. I had no idea how this book would affect me. Long story short, this book helped me in believing in myself.
Storyline of The Alchemist
Paulo Coelho’s, The Alchemist is an enchanting novel that has inspired various people around the world. This story, dazzling in its powerful simplicity and inspiring experience, is about an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago who travels from his home in Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of a treasure concealed in the Pyramids. Santiago dreams of treasure buried near the Pyramids and concludes that he is supposed to chase his dreams. He meets many people and encounters numerous omens that nudge him in one way or the other to follow his dreams. Santiago listens to his heart and keeps going towards his destiny.
As the chase continued, Santiago realises that the journey itself is a treasure to be cherished.
The Alchemist tells how every little thing that happens around us is significant. It is amazing how a book of only 160 pages is worth so much more. However, I did feel that the storyline was too fast at times. I was curious to know more about the obstacles that Santiago encountered in his journey.
The Alchemist is a book for all age groups. Its simple language makes it easy to understand what the author has to say. This book has made me a better observer. Everything that we do or come across is a part of the story that the universe is drafting for you.
“When you want something, all the universe conspires to help you achieve it.” -This is the most inspiring dialogue of The Alchemist.

Paolo Coelho wrote The Alchemist in just two weeks. Initially, the book was not popular. However, it is unbelievable how a work of just two weeks got translated into so many other languages and became one of the bestsellers across the globe.
