The Secret By Rhonda Byrne Book Review

I finished a non-fiction book The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. I am overwhelmed with a lot of optimistic energy so let’s quickly begin with the review.

I kind of laughed at the basic idea of this book. I was like “Duh, How is this even possible? ” I picked up this book as the title attracted me and it was quite hyped on Bookstagram. Also one of my cousins told me about the power of The Secret. She has been manifesting for years and recommended it to me. When she reviewed the concept of The Secret to me, I found it quite blah. However, when I started reading, this book caught my interest.

All about the Law of Attraction and manifestation was entirely unexplored for me.

Basic Idea of The Secret

The Secret is not like a regular self-help book as it talks about some powerful laws and forces. It tells how The Secret is the key to success and prosperity in life. Our thoughts have a certain frequency. We can change our thoughts and beliefs into reality by manifesting and using the law of attraction.

“If you are complaining, the law of attraction will powerfully bring into your life more situations for you to complain about.”

“Your whole life is a manifestation of the thoughts that go on in your head.”

The Secret explains that the law of attraction works in three steps- ASK, BELIEVE and RECEIVE. This states that we must consider this universe our Ginnie who grants all our wishes. So, just ask the universe for your desires, then believe that you have already received it (Live your life as if your wish is already fulfilled) and finally you will see that your wish is granted.

“Ask once, believe you have received, and all you have to do to receive is feel good.”

“I am receiving now. I am receiving all the good in my life, now, I am receiving [fill in your desire] now.” And feel it.

Further, it illustrates how to use this secret for health, relationship, money and life. To be precise, I was curious to read about health and money :).

Final Review of The Secret

After one or two chapters I felt that the book is being repetitive. Still, I kept reading with complete concentration as I was loving so many positive affirmations. The concept of health promoted body positivity and self-love, which had quite an impact on me. However, the secret to relationships was a bit vague for me. How can we always concentrate on positives? How can we overlook the red flags and expect it to be fine with mere positive affirmations? Other than this all the other chapters were quite optimistic and worth reading.

Some phrases caused me to laugh out loud. Still, overall I think I got a bit influenced. Now I do keep a check on what I think and manifest. I am not sure if this is just a hangover of the book or I am gonna practise this forever.

Some quotes from The Secret caught my eye.

“That a man can change himself… and master his own destiny is the conclusion of every mind who is wide-awake to the power of right thought.”

“I am the master of my thoughts”

“You can start with nothing, and out of nothing and out of no way, a way will be made.”

Your whole life is a manifestation of the thoughts that go on in your head.

This is a very beginner-friendly book. The vocabulary used is quite simple and comprehendible.

Do give it a try and let me know about your reviews as well.
